never had a dead friend @ 02:52 pm

when he died
he wore his wedding ring
twice

I've never had a dead friend

dear friends
dead to me?
surprised if I ever hear life from them

but not friends
current and loving
leaving the body
to walk in ghost with me
to show up at my side
in times of need
in the darkness
in dreaming

--"I pulse in order to enchant
realizing receptivity."

Friends that leave the room and walk back to the living side are rare, locked to a life that has passed and afraid of what may await or what they left and what will come of it.

I have found Pets will come back, people rarely do.
For people are complex and usually selfish,
when they leave the body they often focus on the ties that hurt them.
When they focus on the joy, the know those they left will be fine and go on.
When they focus on the pain, they weep and walk on and away.

What stays is what we remember of them. Knowing them so well they can speak to us, that we feel them, that we hold them in us. For this to happen we must know them before they pass and there should be love but that is no assurance. They must move and change us, we need to hear them before they pass, to feel their change in our life while they live, then they will be with us the rest of our days.

When you do have a dead friend, I request that you write a lot about your grieving process. I had a friend who set himself on fire and another that overdosed on prescription pain meds and alcohol. Sometimes I imagine running into them on the street . . .finding out that the whole thing had been some kind of elaborate prank. Sometimes I look for their energy in other people or animals. Sometimes I think my cat is a reincarnation of the one who set himself on fire. And I find that no one can share this experience . . .so when you have a dead friend, I'd really be interested in your thoughts and feelings.
