The comfort you derived from a Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond duet reminds me of a line in Noel Coward's play Private Lives: "Strange how potent cheap music is." Indeed.

And the line about you being in a desert watching the Garden of Eden wither before you brings *me* to the threshold of tears.
